EnergyConnect exit leaves just months to turn around crucial grid link
The Spanish contractor hired to build most of a $2.3 billion high-voltage cable linking South Australia and NSW is expected to walk away from the troubled project by the end of September, leaving domestic construction firms to complete work on the vital infrastructure.
The departure of Elecnor part-way through the construction of the 900-kilometre EnergyConnect project has created major complications for Transgrid, the operator of the NSW network, as it attempts to put it back on track.
